CGI Ping-Pong Balls
Supporting Aspect Ratio's production, we had to 3D animate and create a few shots with CGI ping-pong balls based on the storyboard and treatment of each specific shot. This also depended on the actor/actress' capabilities in filming the ping-pong shots practically.
Shots Reduced
Our initial goal was to cover multiple shots with CGI ping-pong balls as the storyboard had elements of very fast-paced shots. However, during the shoot on-set, the AR team could shoot most of these sequences practically so the number of shots were reduced.
Realistic Ping-Pong Motion
As we got to work on the scenes required for CG ping-pong balls, the AR team shot each sequence with a metronome so the pacing of the talents can be as accurate as possible. This gave us more information to work with and the pacing of our CG ping-pong balls could be similar to the others shot practically. Which in turn allowed us to have better animated ping-pong balls.
