A Story That Needed to Be Told
Signal Flare approached us to help bring Shota's story to life - a young man from Japan who endured years of bullying before finding hope and purpose through faith. We were tasked with recreating pivotal moments of his testimony through anime-inspired 3D animation, seamlessly composited into live-action footage as part of a documentary-style retelling.
Faithful to the Story
Our goal was to portray Shota's emotional journey in a way that felt both authentic to Japanese culture and emotionally resonant. To represent his betrayal, we incorporated a white flower - a traditional symbol of mourning in Japan - as a subtle visual metaphor. His darkest moment was brought to life through an animated sequence of Shota falling through a dark, foreboding sky, reflecting his descent into despair before finding hope.
Translating Emotion Through Animation
What we delivered were cinematic 3D scenes that blended seamlessly into the live-action video. Through restrained, symbolic visuals - from a white flower shedding its petals to Shota falling into darkness - we captured the emotional weight of his journey with subtlety and impact.
